“ Dr. Vincent Lam is a triple threat. A 1994 summa cum laude uOttawa graduate in biology, he is an accomplished emergency physician, distinguished lecturer and award-winning author of works of fiction and non-fiction. Not too shabby for someone who has yet to celebrate his 40th birthday.  Born in 1974, Vincent earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1999. He is now an emergency room physician in Toronto .......He is also a lecturer in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Vincent is most renowned nationally and internationally, however, for his writing. His highly acclaimed debut collection of short stories, Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, won the 2006 Scotiabank Giller Prize, one of Canada's most prestigious fiction prizes. It was adapted into the HBO Canada miniseries Bloodletting. Vincent's nonfiction book, The Flu Pandemic and You, is a guide for Canadians on how to prepare for the next influenza pandemic. It received a Special Recognition Award from the American Medical Writers Association in 2007. Vincent has also penned a biography of Tommy Douglas, the father of Canadian medicare, which was released as part of the popular Penguin Books Extraordinary Canadians Series. His first novel is The Headmaster's Wager, which was shortlisted for the 2012 Governor General's Award for English-language fiction. What does the future hold for this inspiring young alumnus? Don't be surprised to see this triple threat become a quadruple threat.” ( Source: YouTube )
